Traveling is one of my greatest passions. An adventure I will remember for a lifetime with everlasting memories captured on camera. Each new place I visit, I learn something new about the culture, people and history. As you explore my blog I hope you can go see these great destinations in person.

Chiang Kai-shek Official Residence
Chiang Kai-shek's Official Residence
This historic landmark was once the home of President Chiang Kai-shek, and the estate is located on one of modern-day Taipei's main streets. A beautiful tree-lined driveway leads you onto the grounds of this elegant estate. First opened to the public in 1996, the main house is off limits, but the vast flower garden and magnificent property draw many curious visitors. When Chiang lived here, however, the property was well hidden and protected. A private tunnel was built from the compound through the mountain behind the house in case Chiang had to flee his home!
2008 was the Year of Rat so the garden piece you see here is of a rat pushing another one sitting in the wheel barrel while they are doing yard work. It's obvious which one is working hard and which one is hardly working.
During the time of my visit they had a flower show, never been to one but it was very cool.
