Taipei: Postal Museum

Yes that's right, the Postal Museum. My Dad has collected stamps ever since I could remember and it was a hobby he and I shared when I was a kid. But years have past, although I no longer collect stamps actively, we still share that interest in stamps so we decided to go check it out. To my suprise, it only cost $5NT to get in, there are six floors open to visitors.

Before I introduce the Postal Museum I want to share with you what the Taiwan Post offer to the citizens of Taiwan. It's more than just a post office, it's also a bank owned by goverment. You can also go to the Taiwan Post to pay your utility bills. In an attempt to promote more business development and to help the public gain better knowledge about the postal service, the Postal Museum was established on December 1st, 1965.

On the 2nd floor you travel back in time and experience the evolution of postal service.

On the 3rd and 4th floor is the postal history covering from the beginning of the modern postal service in the late Chin Dynasty to the current time.

On the 5th floor, the philately section has a collection of 80,000 postage stamps issued by different countries. There is also the valuable "Penny Black," the first stamp set in the world.
